NORIKO OKAKU

VISUALS FOR  YAMA WARASHI

Completed BA Fine art media at Chelsea College of Art and Design, MA Animation at Royal Collage of Art. Residing in the United Kingdom has made Noriko Okaku aware of the importance of initiating individuality and establishing mutual understanding of social diversity. Her artistic intention is to encourage self-awareness of the uniqueness of personal identity through the imagination and personal memories that arise from experiencing her work. She believes it presents the possibility of a multifaceted perspective that enriches our compassion for self and others. Using animation, audiovisual performance, installation and everyday objects as mediums, the artist approaches surrealism, mythology and occult landscapes with a collage methodology that collects fragments of the past left behind in the present, breaking down the boundaries between the visible and the invisible, such as material and memory, to bring the present moment alive.
